HOUSE OF HORRORS – MARCH – SEVERANCE

February 9th, 2013  / Author: Oshkosh Horror

As horror movies have proven time and time again, nothing at a cabin/cottage ever goes wrong, right? This month, we’re heading to the rural parts of Europe for our British double feature of SEVERANCE and THE COTTAGE.

The night will start with THE COTTAGE, where feuding brothers David and Peter abduct a young woman and hole up in a remote rural cottage, their hostage quickly turns the tables on her captors. But soon, it’s all for one when they find that the deranged farmer next door is the real threat. Andy Serkis, Reece Shearsmith and Jennifer Ellsion star, with an appearance or two from Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley.

March’s main feature (SEVERANCE) follows a sales group — employed by an international weapons company — as they head for a team-building retreat at a remote lodge in Hungary. Before you can say “mayhem,” a band of vengeful, psychotic commandos turns the tables and puts the merchants on the wrong end of their wares.

HOUSE OF HORRORS – FEBRUARY – RE-ANIMATOR

January 22nd, 2013  / Author: Oshkosh Horror

HP Lovecraft, Stuart Gordon, and Jeffrey Combs walk into a bar… Stop me if you heard this one.

Maybe those three haven’t gone to a bar together, but they sure as hell will be at this month’s House of Horrors! We’re gearing up for two off-the-wall Lovecraft adaptations only Gordon could produce, RE-ANIMATOR and FROM BEYOND!

Starting the night out is FROM BEYOND. After inventing a way for creatures from the fourth dimension to come into his own world, Dr. Edward Pretorious suffers a gruesome decapitation at the hands of those he brought “from beyond.” But authorities suspect his assistant is to blame. Don’t miss Dawn of the Dead’s Ken Foree in this gooey practical effects creature feature!

Following up FROM BEYOND is the film Gordon made one year prior, RE-ANIMATOR! Medical student, Herbert West, develops a serum that miraculously revives the dead. With his roommate and his girlfriend, he reanimates a corpse — but he doesn’t factor in certain complications. This one has to be seen to believe!

Be sure to check out the trailers below, mark your calendars and come party in the cemetery. As always, House of Horrors is free and open to the public, so bring your friends!

HOUSE OF HORRORS – JANUARY – CEMETERY MAN

December 19th, 2012  / Author: Oshkosh Horror

Another new year means another year full of horror, and we’re kicking off 2013 in the cemetery!

First up will be I SELL THE DEAD. Now, this title from 2008 might not be too familiar, but you’ll definitely recognize a few faces. Dominic Monaghan, Larry Fessenden, Angus Scrimm and Ron Perlman star in this flick, where 18th century justice catches up with a pair of grave robbers. With only a few hours to go before his date with the guillotine, Arthur Blake tells his life story to Father Francis Duffy. Before long, Arthur spills the beans on how he got started in the grim corpse peddling business with seasoned ghoul Willie Grimes.

The main feature of the evening will be CEMETERY MAN (aka DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE). There is the duality between love and dead (in Italian “dellamore” means “of love” and “dellamorte” means “of death”), a duality that Dellamorte feels in a really hard way. He is the guardian of the cemetery of Buffalora, a little town in the north of Italy, in which, we don’t know why, corpses rise from tombs and Dellamorte has to destroy them. Dellamorte seems not to ask to himself why this happen, he shoots and loves. But at the end he wants to leave Buffalora… The tagline is “Zombies, Guns, and Sex, OH MY!!!” for crying out loud, you know you don’t want to miss this one!

Be sure to check out the trailers below, mark your calendars and come party in the cemetery. As always, House of Horrors is free and open to the public, so bring your friends!

HOUSE OF HORRORS – DECEMBER – A CADAVER CHRISTMAS

November 12th, 2012  / Author: Oshkosh Horror

We like to get a little festive at House of Horrors. Keep in mind that “getting festive” just means showing films that have some sort of relevance to the time of year, so in reality, we’re not all that festive. Oh, well. We try. Anyway, (love it or hate it) Christmas time is fast approaching, so it’s time for us to give the gift of Christmas horror!

Starting out the night is will be the Tales From The Crypt episode, “And All Through The House.” Directed by Robert Zemeckis (Used Cars, Back To the Futures 1-3, and Forrest Gump, just to name a few) and written by Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps and Monster Squad), a greedy woman makes the mistake of murdering her husband while an escaped mental patient dressed in a Santa Claus outfit is on the loose.

The main feature will be A Cadaver Christmas. Yes, this screened at the OHFF this year, but many of the HoH crowd were MIA (shame on you), so we thought we’d be nice. Twas the night before Christmas and all through the Lab, not a creature was stirring, except for the cadavers! When a biology professor‘s Christmas Eve experiment goes horribly awry, it‘s up to the university‘s janitor to mop up the mess… But dealing with the undead may be a job even the best janitor can‘t keep under control… and where else to recruit help but at the local bar.

Chances are we’ll have some other holiday (bloody) fun in store too. Be sure to check out the trailer below, mark your calendars and come out for the fun. As always, House of Horrors is free and open to the public, so bring your friends!

OHFF SELECTIONS – SECOND BATCH

September 13th, 2012  / Author: Oshkosh Horror

We are beyond thrilled to host the premiere for two new Wisconsin made titles this year at the OHFF. The first comes to you from the Fox Valley’s very own,Slasher Studios. These guys have been taking their first two films (Teddy, which is also screening at the OHFF, and Popularity Killer) all over the country, and will be unveiling their latest in Oshkosh, Blood Brothers.

Second on the list, is no other than the master of filth from Columbus, Cory Udler. We’ve had Cory at the first two fests (Incest Death Squad 2 and Mediatrix), and it just wouldn’t seem right to have another fest without him. Lucky for us, and you, IDS Rising will be released into the world at the OHFF. Make no mistake about it, IDS Rising is as raw, vicious, and filthy as you can get. Now, being that Rising is a prequel/sequel, you can get caught up-to-date with the first two films righthere.

Even though we’ve opened our doors to Midwestern horror this year, we will always bring you Wisconsin horror. Check out the trailers below!

HOUSE OF HORRORS – AUGUST – NEAR DARK

July 17th, 2012  / Author: Oshkosh Horror

NOTE: HOUSE OF HORRORS WILL BE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. FRIDAY. NIGHT.

This summer has been stupidly hot with very little rain, so we thought it would be good to feature a film that takes place in desert, considering a desert isn’t too far off from what the Midwest has been like. Enter Near Dark.

In the dusty heart of the American southwest, innocent country boy Caleb is handily seduced by a beautiful girl into joining a pack of vicious drifters, which turns out to be no ordinary band of outlaws. Soon, Caleb is trapped in a nightmarish world of soulless evil and hellish mayhem that thrives on blood and absolute horror. Aliens alumni Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton and Jenette Goldstein make up the bloodsucking family in this flick, which was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. You might recognize that name, after all, she directed The Hurt Locker.

Be sure to check out the trailer below, mark your calendars for FRIDAY NIGHT and come out for the fun. As always, House of Horrors is free and open to the public, so bring your friends!
