I’m going to shake things up a bit and NOT talk about INFECTION 2010…at least for a little bit. This past weekend something pretty wild happened. A $1.8 million dollar horror film opened in theaters across the country and battled a $20 million film (Takers) for the number one spot at the box office. Takers did claim the top spot, but The Last Exorcism (a Lionsgate release) barely lost. Obviously the horror genre has gained in popularity in recent years, so while a horror film having a successful opening weekend isn’t exactly earth shaking, an independently shot ORIGINAL film with unknown actors doing so well (especially against a studio film) is worth noting.
While we have not seen The Last Exorcism yet, this doesn’t change the fact that this is a huge “breath of fresh air”. Damn, that phrase is so cheesy but I can’t think of anything better at this moment. Seriously though, it’s about damn time. When I discovered the news about The Last Exorcism almost conquering the box office, the mega-huge horror nerd in me couldn’t help but cheer. Our beloved genre has been over-saturated with cheap and mindless remakes of films we hold so true it seems the masses could care less if horror continues to be watered down. (more…)

There are going to be 5 major raffles at the INFECTION 2010 – The Second Annual Oshkosh Zombie Walk After Party and we thought it would be fun to release one raffle each day leading up to the Walk. I am running a little behind now so there will be two today, this one now and the other later on.
Raffle tickets will be sold 1 for $1, 6 for $5 and 15 for $10. No limit on tickets. All the money raised from the raffles and everything else goes directly to the Time Community Theater.

No Episode Five this week, boys and girls. We will return to our regular programming next Sunday. This week we wanted to share the TV commercial we shot for Oshkosh Community Media, which will run until the Zombie Walk on Sept. 4. So those of you with public access, keep your eyes glued to the tube to see us, or you can just watch it now!
Feast your eyes on this! Just like last year, we teamed up with the unbelievably talented Dave Aikins, artist of such characters Dora The Explorer and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Dave has also worked for Procter & Gamble, Hasboro and Nestle…just to name a few. But perhaps you’re like us and know Dave’s fantastic artwork from Twilight Creations ZOMBIES!!! – The Board Game, which is why it makes perfect sense that Dave is joining the forces with the Oshkosh Zombie Walk.
What we have here is completely original artwork solely for INFECTION 2010 and, let’s face it, it rules. Look at that close up image, could you ask for anything better? We think not. Even though the zombies are going to be taking over Downtown Oshkosh, construction has been the real monster for not just Downtown but the whole city this year and what better way to commemorate it? You are not going to find this artwork anywhere else, folks, this is one of a kind.
The INFECTION shirt will be available at the Zombie Walk After Party for only 10 bucks. This year INFECTION 2010 isn’t just a one day event, we are taking over an entire week! Things start with the grandaddy of zombie films, the one and only Night of the Living Dead! Night introduced the world to cannibalistic zombies in 1968 and has changed horror ever since. Hell, without this flick there might not have ever been an Oshkosh Zombie Walk. Night is part of Friday Fright Night, our bi-weekly screenings of classic 50s and 60s horror/sci-fi films at the Time Community Theater (445 N. Main St., Downtown Oshkosh). So come join us as we begin the fun of INFECTION 2010: The Second Annual Oshkosh Zombie Walk. The movie starts at 8pm and is FREE! Plus there’s a free raffle to win a $25 to The Exclusive Company. ZOMBIE WALK KICK-OFF SHOW – Friday, September 3 – Reptile Palace – 10PM
Twas the night before the Zombie Walk when all through the house…ah screw it, no need to be cute here. Come party with us at the Reptile Palace (141 High Ave., Oshkosh) the night BEFORE the Zombie Walk! We have put together one hell of an evening of music for no other reason than to have some horror-themed fun.
The night will feature Oshkosh’s very own The Lemurs! It’s been a while since these guys have played a show and they are super excited to play for the Zombie Walk. The Lemurs have been the must-see band for many Halloweens in Oshkosh when they busted out their Misfits set and they are the ones responsible for the theme song to the popular Oshkosh zombie flick, Better Off Undead. Joining The Lemurs are The Suspirios and The Savini Effect. The Suspirios are coming back to Oshkosh after remaining quiet for a year or so and are bringing back their crazy luchador-inspired, horror-themed blend of surf punk rock. The Savini Effect hails from Milwaukee, four horror geeks playing the theme songs to some of your favorite horror flicks! These guys bust out theme songs from Phantasm, Zombi, The Deadly Spawn and so many more awesome movies!
This is a 21+ show that is free and starts at 10pm. Now, you do not need to dress up as a zombie for the show, seeing how we want to make sure everyone zombifies themselves for the Zombie Walk the very next day. Nonetheless, zombies are welcome! If you feel the need then by all means, get yourself bloody. If you don’t want to dress up don’t even worry about it, come on out for a night of horror-themed music and celebrate zombies taking over Oshkosh!
Adam and John are joined by a special guest, Mr. Dale DeVries, to talk about zombie make-up, providing you with some very basic pointers of how you can be prepared for infection 2010.
